Treatment for dog warts usually isn't necessary. They typically disappear once your pet's immune system builds a defense against the virus. This process may take five months or longer , so don't expect the warts to disappear as quickly as they emerged.

These benign tumors are not dangerous. They should go away on their own as the dog's immune system matures and generates a response against the papillomavirus . It takes between 1 and 5 months for papillomas to go away. However, some of the individual papillomas may stay permanently.
Older dogs may develop wartlike skin growths (benign tumors) because of a sudden proliferation of cells in the skin, which can happen when the aging process impairs normal regeneration and some cells grow out of control .
On the whole a wart will not bother your dog or cause any pain . Rarely if it occurs in an easy to reach area such as a leg the dog may lick or bite at the area. It is important to discourage this to avoid problems such as irritation and infection.
If just a single or small number of warts is of concern, surgical removal is the treatment of choice. This can be done with a scalpel, laser, or through cryosurgery (using intense cold to destroy the wart).
Depending on the veterinarian's preference many small nodules can be removed with local anesthesia or under a general if the pet will be having another procedure (like dental cleaning). Lastly, cryotherapy (freezing) of the nodules is a great option for removal .”
